- Pick 1 – Last Samuri 9/1 Form 11321
My Best pick for the big race and a horse thats in decent form for the race and should be there or there abouts around the final fence. From his previous runs as long as hes in contention with 2 or 3 to go then he can really power home, does tend to tail off if not in contention as most horses do.
- Pick 2 – Shutthefrontdoor 16/1 Form PU3511
Stuttered in form recently after a couple of good wins but has a chance over this course. Finished 5th in last years National and with Bet Victor paying 6 places 16/1 is a great each way bet.
- Pick 3 – Morning Assembly 20/1 Form 42233
As you can see from the last 5 races form Morning Assembly is a clear front runner and well capable of getting in the places, 20/1 is a great value bet for this horse. The key thing will be to get a clear run round the course as he’s prone to an occasional error.
Other race tips
Today is a day full of bankers with York Hill, Douvan and Thistlecrack expecting to wipe the floor with the competition in their 3 races. We’re backing them as a treble but picking our tips for the each way value behind them. The best price currently is with Sky bet at 1.89 –
14.25 – Mersey Novices Hurdle
- Prince of Steal 33/1 Form 113 (National Hunt)
One of the longer shots in a small field, this means we need him to finish in the top 2 to get the place money. Has started life in National Hunt well with a couple of wins but this will be a really big test for him – With a good clear run I think he’s a capable horse.
15.00 Doom Bar Novices Chase
- Fox Norton 20/1 Form 33321
Was 3rd at Cheltenham in the race Douvan won and I wouldn’t expect him to challenge for the win here. He’s in good form and I think its between him and the Game Changer for second but I’ve gone with Fox Norton as the 20/1 seems such good value.
15.40 Liverpool Stayers Hurdle
- Prince of Scars 10/1 From 111-85
Another race with a short priced favourite in Thistlecrack so again we’re looking for a second place to get a return and Prince of Scars has some form I like the look of. With 3 straight wins he knows what to do to win and most impressively is a very strong finisher in races which I always like. Again its tough to see him beating Thistlecrack for 1st place but decent enough odds to place.
Fridays Aintree tips
13.40 2m 4f class 1 Alder Hey Children’s Charity Handicap Hurdle
- Ma Du Fou at 9
A horse in great form with 3 wins in a row now, these have all come on heavy, soft or good to soft ground. With the poor weather at Aintree this week the ground will mainly be soft.
14.15 2m 103y class 1 Imagine Cruising First In The Frame Top Novices’ Hurdle
- Limini 2.25
In the bookies eyes this is a straight race between Limini and Beauvu D’Air. With 3 wins from 3 and some very impressive form at Cheltenham I’m expecting Limini to come good in this race again.
14.50 3m 210y class 1 Betfred Mildmay Novices’ Chase (Grade 1)
- Native River 8
This is an interesting race with the market split between Blaklion and Un Temps Pour Tout but I can see Native River getting the win here. He’s already beaten Un Temps this year but has previously lost to Blaklion.
15.25 2m 3f 200y class 1 JLT Melling Chase (Grade 1)
- Vautour 1.3
Very short odds for an absolute banker in this race, answered any questions about his form at Cheltenham last time out. As far as Aintree betting tips go, this was the easiest pick of the day.
16.05 2m 5f 19y class 1 Crabbie’s Topham Chase
- Bishops Road 15
This is one of the more open races and the bookies are paying 5 places on this one. Bishops Road is an interesting horse as he’s not run at Cheltenham so should be nice and fresh for this race. He’s won on his last 2 times out and as long as he’s close going in to the last few fences he’s capable of getting a win.
16.40 3m 149y class 1 Doom Bar Sefton Novices’ Hurdle
- Gangster 9
Despite a poor run at Cheltenham in March I like these odds for Gangster to bounce back and get back to winning ways. With 3 wins from 5 he’s shown he’s a capable winner and has the ability to take the win.
The best odds for our bets are with bet Victor, if you’re new to them you can get a £25 free bet when you join here>
Our bet for today will be a lucky 31 each way excluding Vautour due to the very low odds. This will be as a 50p 62 line bet for a total stake of £31. The returns will vary depending on how many of our picks win or place in the races.
