Preview: West Ham v Spurs

West Ham v Spurs betting preview and tips

On Tuesday night this game got a huge shakeup with Pochettino getting the sack. Barley 12 hours later they had made a huge mistake, in my opinion, and appointed Jose Mourinho on a long term contract to 2023. Whilst Spurs have been struggling this season it seems to make very little sense to get rid of Pochetino at this point after the last 5 years progress and the Champions League final 6 months ago.

West Ham v Spurs value betting tip

West Ham v Spurs – Value betting tip

Looking over the stats and comparing them to the odds we have our value pick for this match and a predicted correct score.

Value Pick

This is a tricky one to call with the new manager in place as this is likely to cause a reaction from the Spurs players. The best one I can see from the stats is over 1.5 West Ham team goals at 6/4.

Bet Builder Pick

Using the stats and key trends below we are using the Betvictor app to build a bet from the stats!

  1. Son to score anytime

18/5 on Bet Victor

Long shot pick

  1. Over 1.5 West Ham goals
  2. BTTS Yes
  3. Fredericks anytime card
  4. West Ham exactly 2 cards
  5. Spurs under 1.5 cards

WHUFC v THFC goal and scorer trends

Key match trends

The home team tends not to win! You have to go back 6 games to May 2017 for a home win in this fixture covering both teams home games in all competitions. In the last 7 head to head, there have been 2 draws, 3 away spurs wins and 2 away West Ham wins.

In the last 2 years of Premier League games, there has been an average of 2.25 goals per game. It is worth noting that is boosted by a 2-3 game with the other 3 games finishing with under 2.5 goals.

Goal Scorers

Harry Kane has not scored in the last 3 league matches v West Ham

Including the league cup games Som Heung-Min has 3 in his last 4 matches against West Ham – He’s best priced at 5/1 to score first and 9/5 to score anytime with BetVictor.

Player cards

West Hams leader for cards is Diop with 4 followed by Fredericks with 3. There are 4 players on 2 cards including Declan Rice. They have an average of 1.9 cards per game. Fredericks picked up a card in this fixture last season.

Danny Rose tops the bookings for Spurs with 5 yellows already this season in 9 appearances. The next highest in the team is 3 with Sissoko & Winks picking up 3 each from their midfield positions. What is more surprising is Eriksen who also has 3 bookings and may have some value in the betting. Spurs did not pick up a single booking in both Premier League games with West Ham last season.

West Ham – Last 5 games

  1. Burnley 3 – 0 West Ham ❌
  2. West Ham 2 – 3 Newcastle United ❌
  3. West Ham 1 -1 Sheffield United ❌
  4. Everton 2 – 0 West Ham ❌
  5. West Ham 1 – 2 Palace ❌

It has been a dire run of form for West Ham recently and the pressure is mounting on Pellegrino. Their last recorded win was on the 22nd of September where they won 2-0 against Manchester United. At this point, they had made some good progress and were playing well and on a run of 4 wins from 6 and unbeaten in all competitions since an opening day drubbing by Manchester City.

Spurs – Last 5 games

  1. Spurs 1 – 1 Sheffield United ⭕️
  2. Everton 1 – 1 Spurs ⭕️
  3. Liverpool 2 – 1 Spurs ❌
  4. Spurs 1 – 1 Watford ⭕️
  5. Brighton 3 – 0 Spurs ❌

Like West Ham, Spurs have been struggling hence sacking the manager. They have been far from their best and while a new manager will give them a lift it would be difficult to expect a massive change when Jose will only have had 2-3 days with the players after the international break.
