Spurs v Chelsea

Chelsea v Spurs preview

Not the closest of derbies in terms of distance between the two clubs but the rivalry here is still fierce nonetheless.

Both clubs have had a fantastic start to the season, with Chelsea probably looking the slightly stronger, but Spurs here holding the home advantage. (Not that they really have a home at the minute!).

The sweet Wembley turf hadn’t been looking that sweet of late, but looked remarkably revitalised in the England v Croatia fixture, which should make for a better spectacle from a spectators perspective.

Betting predictions

My personal feeling is that Chelsea will be too strong for the heavily weakened Spurs line up, especially at full strength. Spurs did not stop Man City from dominating a few weeks back and I expect Chelsea will similarly overcome any away nerves early doors.

I don’t see Chelsea having it all their own way though. The Spurs home crowd will be encouraging their team to fight and I see Kane stepping up to the plate trying to set an example by finding the back of the net.

This leads to me to my overall prediction of Chelsea to win and both teams to score.

Alongside that bet I would also consider putting down some players to score bets nearer the time, once the teams are a little more predictable.

Willian has shown in the past that this fixture tends to suit his style of play with him bagging goals against Spurs previously so I also like the value in the odds on him bagging. Here are the odds for the likely scoring candidates (anytime).

  • Kane – 1.95
  • Hazard – 2.40
  • Llorente – 2.75
  • Moura – 3.00
  • Morata – 3.00
  • Willian – 3.75
