The Unibet brand has come a long way since its creation in 1998. Back then the service was purely done by taking telephone bets. The Unibet app was developed in the early 2000s and a competitive online betting experience has existed ever since.
Unibet is the largest betting operation in Scandinavia and has become a major player on the UK scene in recent years. The brand falls under the Kindred Group, formerly The Unibet group. This group now services over 1,000,000 customers from multiple territories around the world.
The Unibet brand is the strongest brand within the umbrella of companies. It is well trusted and the fact it has been a fully licensed UK betting company for decades is a testament to that.

Unibet App Review
The Unibet app can be installed as a native app, or via a mobile web-based platform. It offers sports betting, casino, and poker apps that are safe, reliable, and secure. It is ranked well within the top 100 apps on the app store for sports and has been downloaded over 50,000 times on the Google Play Store.
The web browser version can be saved onto a mobile device’s home screen, just like a dedicated app. Once on the Unibet home page, pressing the browser settings button and selecting the option to add a shortcut to home will achieve this.
The process differs slightly, depending on the actual device and mobile web browser being used. However, once complete, the Unibet app logo should now show, providing quick access to the mobile optimised website.
Appearance & Design
The app allows users to access the full range of sports markets, casino games, and much more on the small screen effectively and efficiently. Everything is laid out logically, in the firm’s trademark green colour scheme.
A clean homepage breaks down the different areas of the site, as well as focusing on the day’s popular events. A top menu bar is present, providing quick access to:
- Upcoming – Events that will be occurring in the near future, split by sport.
- Streaming – The schedule of events that have live streaming options available.
- Football – Quick access to the football fixtures
- Racing – Access to the horse racing hub
- Casino – Redirects the user to the Unibet casino mobile site.
- Tennis – Live and upcoming tennis matches and tournaments.
- Basketball – Betting markets for Basketball from America and Europe.
- American football – NFL and NCAAF event centre.
- Darts – Extensive markets across PDC/ Modus darts matches and events.
Tapping each of the options takes the user directly to that area of the site. Many other sports are also available and can be found from the “A-Z Sports” option in the bottom menu bar. A sliding banner at the top of the homepage shows the latest live offers.
The Unibet app provides live streaming options across over 40,000 sporting events. These include:
- Horse Racing
- Ice Hockey
- Table Tennis
All that is required to watch any of the live streams available is to have a funded account, or to have placed a bet within the last 24 hours.
Streams are smooth and of high quality when connected to a reliable data source. The viewer can also be made full screen, providing a much bigger picture when in landscape orientation.
The option of placing the viewer into picture-in-picture is present. This allows users to have a viewing window that can be moved around the screen with a drag of the finger. Users can then navigate around the app or enter other apps while keeping their eye on the live-action.
A dedicated In-Play section on the app makes it easy to locate live matches and place quick bets on them. In-Play action is categorised by sport and once an event has been selected, the In-Play visuals and available markets will open up.
The visual board at the top of the page represents the action that is happening live. For example, the football visual comes in the design of a football pitch and the Tennis visual as a tennis court. animations are used to show where the action is occurring and flash commentary provides a more detailed description of what is unfolding.
If a live stream is available on an event, this will populate as the default view when entering the in-play markets. This can be changed to show the in-play visual or an infographic displaying up-to-date statistics.
If the live stream is swapped out to show another visual, the audio of the live stream remains active so users can still hear what is going on, as well as benefitting from the alternative information.
There’s a broad range of In-Play markets on offer and Action betting markets allow for quick turnaround bets to be placed. For example, in football, betting on whether or not the next throw-in will happen before a certain time marker, or in tennis, betting on which player will win the next point.
Unibet’s quick bet feature makes it lightning quick to place single bets. Upon making a selection a Quick-Bet box will pop up at the bottom of the screen.
This box will clearly detail the selection made and the odds offered, with a stake amount field next to it. Once a stake is entered the potential returns will be calculated and displayed. The “Place bet” will now become active to press. This makes it possible to place a bet within three taps, once the app has been opened.
If more selections are required, the Quick-Bet slip can be minimised by tapping on the small downwards arrow in the top right of the pop-up window. More selections can now be made The minimised bet slip will now hold all selections and can be opened up at any time to show all bet options relating to the selections made.
One downside here is that the feature cannot be disabled. Not everybody likes to rush their bets. Some people like to double check all details and take their time before confirming their bet choices. Most bookmakers allow users to enable or disable this feature. However, Unibet does not.
This actually slows down the process of placing accumulators, so not a great feature for those who only place multiple bets.
As with most online bookmakers these days, a cash out feature is present on the Unibet app. It is a very basic cash out system, consisting of just the option of cashing out the full amount offered or staying in the bet.
Other bookmakers offer a partial cash out feature also, allowing users to take a percentage of the cash out amount offered and leaving the rest to ride at the reduced stake amount.
Although the Cash Out system is not the most intuitive, it offers fair cash out amounts and makes the cash out facility clearly visible against associated markets.
If cash out is available on a market, or on a multiple bet, it will be clearly labelled as such within the bet slip. If cash out is not available, there will be no cash out icon shown.
As is the case with every bookmaker who offers this feature, Cash out offers are at the discretion of the bookmaker and the user has no right to expect or demand one. Cash outs are not offered on horse racing markets or virtual sports.
Unibet has jumped on the Bet Builder Bandwagon and with good reason. This feature has become very popular within the football betting world. It facilitates punters in building their own bet by allowing them to combine different markets together from the same match.
For example, in a match involving Liverpool and Chelsea, a user may fancy combining the following markets:
- Liverpool to win
- Both teams to score
- Mo Salah to score first
- Trent Alexander Arnold to get an assist
- Over 2.5 cards for Chelsea
- Over 9.5 corners
As each market is selected the combination and odds change accordingly within the bet slip. Up to twelve different markets can be combined together to make a completely unique bet on the Unibet app.
Bonuses & Promotions
Plenty of offers are routinely available on the Unibet app. These come by way of:
- Odds Boosts
- Bonus Offers
- Free Bets
- Profit Boosts
- Enhanced Accas
Daily boosts are offered out for users to take advantage of and promotions are well spread across the different sports available. That means most users should be able to find a bit of extra value on the markets they like to bet on.
When users have had enough of the sports action, they can head straight to Unibet’s mobile casino website with the same log in details and wallet.
There are hundreds of games on offer here, incorporating many different online casino disciplines, such as:
- Table Games
- Live casino
Although Unibet is more focussed on the sports side, there’s enough here to satisfy the hardcore casino gamer. The layout here is a bit sketchy, due to the number of titles on offer.
However, a search feature makes it easier to locate individual titles and the “Unibet Picks” section does a good job to showcase the games that are proving popular amongst the Unibet community.
A “New Games section” keeps users bang up to date and a “For You” section does a fantastic job of recommending games based on titles the user has already played.
Unibet Mobile – The Verdict
The Unibet app is a solid betting offering for all iPhone, iPad, Android, and other mobile users. It holds a raft of options to keep users busy for hours. It also allows users to place bets very quickly at home or while out and about.
Unibet is very rarely offering the best odds in the marketplace. However, they are never really far behind and as such, find them to be competitively priced overall.
With great welcome deals, this is an attractive app for new customers looking to get the most bang for their buck. The Unibet app is an excellent mobile betting tool. It is not our go-to betting app, but has enough about it to warrant a permanent place on our home screens.
Other Unibet Apps
The Unibet poker app can provide hours of entertainment to those who are a fan of this very popular pastime. This Poker app is more for those who like to be interactive and prefer to have plenty of ways to personalise the poker experience.
There are hundreds of avatars to choose from and plenty of settings to set up the table display exactly how the user wishes.
Tables are quick to join and formats of poker available accommodate those pushed for time as well as those looking to get their teeth in to a long drawn out multi-table tournament.
Users can play up to four tables at a time and are able to change their identity up to three times a day. Handy if the user keeps coming up against players they have previously played, who have become accustomed to their style of play.
It’s not one of the most professional poker apps we have played on, but it sure is one of the most funnest. Unibet Sports users can download Unibet Poker app from the App Store and get cracking straight away by logging in using the same details.
Q & A
The native Unibet Android app requires users to have software version 5.0 or greater. The dedicated Unibet iPhone app and Unibet iPad app both require iOS 12.0 or later.
For users running earlier versions, we would recommend installing the latest update and maximising what Unibet has to offer.
However, if running an earlier version and do not wish to update, users can always fall back on the Unibet mobile site, available from any mobile web browser. Examples of which would be Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox.
This option can be found in the settings. From the home screen:
- Press the menu button in the bottom menu bar.
- Select “Settings”.
- Tap on “Odds Format”.
- Choose from Decimal, Fractional or American.
- Tap on home and the odds should now be changed in to the required format.
