What Is A Megacluster Game?

A megacluster game involves dynamic reels that create more symbols once a win has been achieved. In relation to the base game of Star Clusters, at the start of any spin, there will be 4 reels, each displaying 4 symbols (4×4).

If 5 of the same symbols connect to each other, a win is achieved. Then the corresponding symbols explode, causing 4 smaller symbols to spin in for each symbol. This then creates more ways to win as more symbols are now active. If all original symbols experience a win, the board would open up to an 8×8 reel, offering a total of 64 symbols.

Star Cluster Bonus Feature

The bonus feature is achieved by successfully creating a chain of 5 consecutive wins or more from one spin. If 5 wins occur, 2 free spins are awarded. Each win above 5 wins will then accrue an extra free spin for the bonus round. Wins are recorded and represented in the meter to the right of the reels. Land in the pink to activate the bonus spins.

Once the amount of free spins has been calculated the bonus round will begin. The bonus round starts off with a setup of 8 reels, each showing 8 symbols (8×8). Each win here will open up smaller symbols still, replacing each winning symbol with 4 more. This potentially gives way to a 16×16 board, showing 256 symbols.

Wilds

Stars in this game act as wilds and help out a lot to connect winning symbols on the baseboard and beyond. The more stars present on the board, the bigger the chance of receiving a big win.

There are standard stars and gold stars. Standard stars just act as a wild symbol, whereas gold stars are wilds as well as multipliers. Each gold star that is active within a winning chain will trigger the win and any subsequent win on that spin to be multiplied. The more gold stars involved, the bigger the multiplier gets. If a multiplier of 10 is achieved in the bonus game, a re-trigger is awarded and another 2 free bonus spins are granted to the player.

I’ve been playing this game very frequently across varying stakes since its release and can say with confidence that this is a highly volatile game. I’ve had very rewarding sessions, long periods of playing that have seen me around even money and sessions that have incurred large losses.

The RTP on this game is 96.54% with a maximum win of 23,960 x stake from a bonus spin and 14,407 x stake in the base game.

The game has good sound and visuals and is a very simple slot to play, compared to others. The background is a flat orange colour that changes on any win to reflect the colour of the winning symbol. This is handy when you are using the auto-spin feature and are doing other things as the colour change catches the eye very easily.

This game is very catchy. Time can easily pass you by when playing it. Control measures are offered as loss limits and time limits. Using these features comes recommended to keep the gameplay as entertainment, rather than regret and frustration.
