Where can I bet on the Ballon d’Or winner?
Five bookmakers were offering this out when we checked. These were Paddy Power, Sky Bet, Betfair, Unibet and BetVictor.
William Hill also offer out this market, although the last time we checked they had made it unavailable on their app.
All are sturdy bookmakers, offering similar prices on the selections available.
How do I find the Ballon d’Or market on the BetVictor app?
BetVictor does have a search feature, but for some reason, the market doesn’t appear within the search results when searching for it. Therefore, we found the best way to get there is by navigating to it manually.
From the main menu, head to the football section. A top menu bar should be available offering categories such as “featured”, “Premier League”, “Competitions” and “Accumulators”. Scroll this bar across until “Specials” is visible and select it.
From the options presented, select “Player Specials” and the Balon d’Or winner market should appear, along with others.
How do I find the Ballon d’Or market on the William Hill app?
William Hill’s search function is second to none, so is well worth using whenever a specific market is needed, in our opinion.
Simply input “Ballon” in to the search bar and the top result on the events page will be the Ballon d’Or market winner market.
To access it the long way, enter the football section, then navigate to the competitions category. Scroll down to locate the “Specials” option and open the “player specials” that reside within it. The Ballon d’Or market should now be visible.
Be aware that William Hill do switch this market on and off. Therefore, if you cannot find it using either method mentioned above, then it is because William Hill have temporarily stopped taking bets on this specific market.
Ballon D'Or Guide
The Ballon d’Or is the most prestigious award an individual footballer can receive. The award, which translates to “golden ball” symbolises that a certain player has been regarded as being the best footballer in the world.
Ronaldo and Messi have recent Ballon d’Or dominance
It has been going since 1956 and there have been plenty of names who have made it on the list of winners. However, in recent years, the award has pretty much been taken over by two players – Ronaldo and Messi.
Between the two of them, they have won the Ballon d’Or twelve times in thirteen years. The only exception is 2018 when Luca Modric claimed it.
All good things must come to an end
As good as Ronaldo and Messi have been, it is evident that they are slowing down and are some way past their peaks. With Messi at 34 and Ronaldo at 37, both are coming towards the end of their careers.
That has opened up the opportunities for other players to showcase themselves as new talents, or for others to maintain a high performing consistency, in an attempt to put themselves in the spotlight as far as the Ballon d’Or is concerned.
Who are amongst the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or this year?
Karim Benzema
Real Madrid ran away with the La Liga title this season and Benzema’s 27 goals from 32 appearances certainly aided them in doing so. His performances in the Champions league were also pivotal in the team picking up the trophy for the fourteenth time.
Sadio Mane
After winning the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal and two domestic trophies with Liverpool, Sadio Mane is well within the mix for the award.
Robert Lewandowski
This year’s award is looking like anything but a two-horse race this year. Some argue that Lewandowski should have picked up the title of the World’s best player last year and after continuing this campaign in the same manner he finished the last, he is up there amongst the favourites in the bookmaker’s lists.
Mo Salah
Mo Salah is another player who has shown no signs of slowing down in terms of influence and goal-scoring capability and he is another rightful contender at the top of the list.
Kylian Mbappe
Kylian Mbappe is a 23-year-old who plays with talent well beyond his years. His strength, his vision, his pace, and his anticipation of what is going to happen are all finely tuned to create an absolute nightmare for defenders. He is another strong contender this year.
Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi has moved down the favourites list after failing to pick up at PSG where he left off at Barcelona. He has hardly been a disappointment, but lacked any real momentum in his play and performances.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo has looked frustrated and regretful as Manchester United churn through managers and deals with unhappy players at the club. This has led to Ronaldo also slipping down the odds Table, despite being the stand out player for Manchester United throughout the season.
