La Liga is the top division of Spanish football and contains some of the world’s greatest club teams. Also known as the Primera Division, La Liga is the place where can see the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Valencia compete every weekend. Therefore, as you can imagine, La Liga is one of the most popular leagues in the world and its little surprise they have an official La Liga app.
The app is packed full of features covering the latest scores, tables and fixtures. It’s also the best place to get the most up to date La Liga news.
La Liga App For Android & iOS
Set-up – There are two ways to gain access to the La Liga app and that’s either via the official La Liga website or via the app store. By visiting the La Liga website, there is a link at the top of the page called ‘Games/Apps’ and if you click on this, the links taking you to download the app, depending on your device, become available.
The links take you to either the Google Play or iTunes stores, so if you already know your way around these, you can also find the app by conducting a simple search on your mobile device. Or you can download the app directly via the links below
La Liga Mobile App Review
Functionality – The La Liga app contains all the latest information you need, in order to follow La Liga closely, where ever you happen to be.
It’s easy to navigate your way around the different sections of the app, with the press of a button taking you to match previews, statistics, news and match reports. However, upon loading up the app, you are met with the fixtures which are upcoming for that week. If you would like to check out the current league table, just press where it says ‘Standings’ and you are taken to it.
If you press on a fixture, you are taken to the menu for that game, where you can find match previews and comments. Once the game has finished, you are then able to access match reports, highlights, view the goals in 3D and view all the best photographs from the game.
If you press the three-bar icon at the top left corner of the app, this brings up a side menu. From here, you can look-up a specific club, access information about the different competitions in Spain, check the latest news, view galleries, check alerts and the latest social media activity.
See screenshots of the La Liga smartphone app below.
When matches are taking place, you can push a fixture and you will be taken to the minute-by-minute commentary of the game. This is great, especially if you can’t make it to the game or see it on television.
The app now allows you to customise your feeds so you only see the news you want. You can select multiple teams and avoid others. This is great if you just want the latest Barcelona news and want to avoid anything about Real Madrid or similar. The app then becomes a hub of your team’s news and matches as well as having all the other La Liga information.
If you do want to grab other news you can navigate around the app from the menu to see the latest news for all teams.
- La Liga
- Smart Bank League (second division)
- Copa Del Rey
- Iberdrola Women’s League
- Champions League
- Europa League
You won’t be surprised to hear there are no odds displayed on this app or betting functions as it is not a betting app. However, you can play fantasy football on the app with iPlay software built-in. This is just for fun so you can test your knowledge out against other app users rather than being a daily fantasy sports style play.
Updated Functionality For Apple iWatch & Apple TV
What’s even better, ever since the most recent app update (October 2016), you can now use the features on both the Apple iWatch and Apple TV too. Which we think takes the La Liga app to a whole new level. You can see that we have added some screenshots of the apps functionality on these devices below.
Screenshots of the La Liga iOS app for Apple iWatch can be found below.

The La Liga app has everything you need, in order to follow Spanish football from your mobile device. All the information and statistics are there and live commentary plus 3D goals, means you can keep up with all the action, even if you are away from the stadium or television.
It’s fair to say, the La Liga app is pretty basic but then if all you want is to know the latest happenings in Spanish football, you won’t need anything else.
