The Premier League has some of the best players on the planet. In front of goal, many of them can be matched by only a few outside of the English top flight.
Last season proved to be one of the most competitive yet, with three players finishing top of the goal scoring charts with 22 league goals.
Those were Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while the likes of Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling weren’t far behind.
This season has got off to a flying start once again with a number of contenders when it comes to betting on the Top Goalscorer odds. But who are the favourites as it stands?
Sergio Aguero is favourite with most football betting apps and is currently top of the charts with six goals and one assist.
He’s not won the award since 2014/15 season so is due one and the bookies apps are currently pricing him at 7/2 to do so.
Harry Kane hasn’t had the best start to the season with Tottenham but Paddy Power are still pricing him as a second favourite at 4/1.
He always starts slowly but still has three goals and will undoubtedly be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. He’ll certainly have to be if Spurs want to finish in the top four.
Liverpool have a number of goalscorers in their squad which is perhaps why the bookies are only pricing him at 9/2.
He finished joint top scorer last season and top scorer the season before so will be well worth at least a free bet to do it once again this season.
Raheem Sterling is another who will be worth a bet. His numbers have improved significantly over the last few seasons and has already bagged five so far this season.
We think he could be a real outside shot at 5/1.
Aubameyang hit the ground running in his first full season in the Premier League last term, finishing joint top scorer and has quickly cemented himself as one of the most lethal strikers in the division.
At 7/1 to finish top scorer he could well prove good value and one to watch and place your bets on sooner rather than later.
Mane had the season of his life last term and will be among the goals again this season. To get ahead of those above him could be a stretch this season and a little too tough, and the odds are reflective of that at 10/1.
Other contenders who could be worth backing include Jamie Vardy (13/1) who is really thriving under Brendan Rogers at Leicester, as well as Tammy Abraham (12/1) and Marcus Rashford (20/1).
