The next permanent England manager market currently looks like a slow burner. Gareth Southgate has made the decision to stay on and it is looking likely he will be entrusted to see out his contract, which ends at the end of 2024.
With no real successor shining out behind Southgate, it is unlikely the FA will be falling out with him any time soon. Eddie Howe and Graham Potter taking up new positions at high value clubs pretty much rules them out of the running for at least a year or two and has shaken up the betting market for who will take the England job next.

In For The Long Haul!
At 6/1 for the favourite, this is a market that can bring back a good return, should a winner be hit. It looks attractive, but the future at present is very cloudy.
The result is unlikely to be settled anytime soon, meaning any stake set down will take a while to either disappear or bring back a return.
Betting on this market at present is best with a low staked spread across at least four selections (unless you know something I don’t :)), in my opinion.
No key figure stands out at present as being a dead cert for the role, should Southgate leave and there are a lack of potential candidates queuing up for the role.
For anyone looking for value, former England under 21 manager Aidy Boothroyd has a large range of prices on his between the bookmakers. BetVictor have him at 33/1, whereas Sky Bet, at the time of writing, were offering him out at 200/1.Â
Another candidate showing disparity between the bookies is Dean Smith. William Hill have him priced up at 16/1, whereas Skybet are offering 66/1 on the same selection.Â
Ultimately, I would recommend not going crazy on this market just yet and waiting to see how the upcoming major tournament qualifiers pan out.
